Today the CDC granted Americans additional freedom about what they are able to do with their face outside in public.
The CDC giveth. Giving freedoms it has taken. (Unless you are a child, children still have to wear masks outside in uncrowded areas alongside their unmasked parents). It's really complicated. And it changes all the time. But for now:
In other news today my local area LDS church authorities taketh away, taking away freedoms they had granted. From the official email:
“In our priesthood leadership meeting yesterday, President [name redacted] noted that the blanket authorization allowing the sacrament to be administered in homes in our stake has been discontinued.”
Here we have a governing public body of unelected people telling me what I’m now allowed to do out in public with my own face.
And at the same time there’s a governing religious body telling me what religious observances I no longer have the freedom to do in my own home.
Disturbing. The days of governing ourselves seem to be slipping away.
Later in the Church communication
"For all of our in-person sacrament services and classes, we ask that everyone continue wearing face coverings, as instructed by our Area Presidency."
So many guides. So many masters. Each taking and giving freedoms as they see fit.
